The Flying Circus
University project

The Flying Circus was a concept project exploring digital illustration through a set of three double-sided paper planes. The challenge was to align artwork seamlessly once folded, while also creating clear infographic folding instructions.

I developed The Flying Cactus Spirits — characters inspired by Prickly Pear, Peyote, and Giant Saguaro cacti. Inspired by mid-century style, the outer surfaces showed simplified cactus forms, while the folds revealed surreal plant “spirits,” symbolising growth and transformation.

Hand-drawn sketches were refined in Adobe Illustrator, resulting in vibrant, interactive illustrations that balanced playfulness with thoughtful storytelling.
