Hello Loneliness
This 40-second stop motion short film explored themes of isolation and connection, created just before the COVID lockdowns made its subject unexpectedly timely. Starring Sunny the Ocean Sunfish, the story balanced a lighthearted tone with underlying themes of loneliness, mistaken identity, and searching for love in the wrong places.
The main challenge was balancing stop motion with storytelling — the animation ended up a little wobbly despite my efforts to stabilise the set. Using Lightroom CC for colour tweaks, Saul Bass–inspired animated titles in After Effects, and a clear storyboard kept the sequence playful and engaging. The project was a great introduction to animation and motion graphics, highlighting the value of planning, timing, and feedback — and providing useful critique to carry into future projects.
